Sunday Shop Ride Schedule

Join us for some Sunday shop rides!  All levels are welcome to ride along with this free group.

First, a couple of reminders. Safety is our #1 concern. We don’t ride if it’s raining at the 8:30 start time. With a big group, the spray becomes a real issue, along with the wet roads. Hopefully over the next month we’ll get more rain. If you come out and we cancel at the last minute, you are welcome to ride, it will be your ride, rather than ours.

We’ve had good success actually getting the intermediate group to ride as a peloton. Mostly this means riding no more than 2-up/wide, although especially on the South/Buda route 1-up is preferred.

For the triathletes this isn’t cheating on a training ride, yes it’s drafting. Sitting in, in cycling terms, doesn’t make the session too easy, it means you get a quality bike session, with an even pace/cadence, even into the wind. This gives you a chance to recover, before you take your turn at the front. When taking a turn at the front, remember, don’t speed-up as soon as the wind hits you. You’ll quickly put 10-15ft between you and the rest of the group, which if they have any sense, they won’t close. Steady as it goes, same cadence, even pace, signal changes.

do you have a map, route or distance of the south ride? What is the usual mph for the int/adv group?

And the answer to the 2nd part of you quest Nathan is there is no set speed for advanced and intermediate. If the intermediate is big it will naturally split with the back half at around 15mph and the front half at 17mph ish… And no I won’t be there.
